Privacy

This explains what Software for Marketers (“we”) collects when you use the site. We keep it to what the site needs.

Just looking around

Browsing the site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't run third-party analytics or ad scripts. Like any website, our servers see your IP address and browser details in ordinary technical logs. The only cookies we set are a login cookie for the site's own administrators.

When you use a “Visit” link, we record which tool and which part of the site the click came from, and the time. We don't store your IP address or anything that identifies you with that record. When you search, we may record what was searched and how many results came back, again without identifying you.

What you choose to send us

• Email list. If you sign up, we store your address, where you signed up, the wording you agreed to, and the date. The newsletter isn't running yet; we will only email you about it, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Before we send the first one we will ask you to confirm your address.
• Submitting a tool. We store the tool details and your email, and use your email only to talk to you about that submission (a receipt, questions, and a note when the listing goes live). Submitting does not put you on the email list unless you tick the box.
• Error reports. We store what you write and your email if you give one.

With each of these forms we also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to limit spam and abuse. It can't be turned back into the address.

Auto-fill and AI

If you press the auto-fill button on the submit form, we fetch the public web page you entered and send its text to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to draft the form. Your email address and other form answers are not sent. A person reviews every submission before it is published.

Who handles data for us

• Neon, which hosts our database.
• Google Workspace, which sends our email.
• Anthropic, for the auto-fill described above.
• Our own server host.

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from any email we send, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing Software for Marketers <support@gothebusiness.com>. We keep records only for as long as we need them for the reasons above.

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date above.
